HOW THEY HAPPENED:
These four portraits of Jazz musicians came about when I was experimenting with these ‘striped-shapes’ that I came up with when doodling with my daughter with colored chalk during a neighborhood art-walk. I noticed people taking photos of our doodles after we had done them and I realized that we had ‘made’ something. So I took these doodles and worked with them a bit. This was a rare moment when I worked on four paintings at the same time as my wife and daughter had travelled to South Korea for three months and were staying with my wife's family.

MMW: MEDESKI, MARTIN & WOOD.
A new jazz portrait, the best live jazz band I have ever seen. Amazing live and amazing on recordings.
Unlike the others, these guys are alive and still gifting the world with their music.
Check them out.

Metallica is not jazz, but this album has changes in it unlike most their stuff and I thought the album very fucking rock.
